Terms of service
Last updated 4 September 2026
You pay for the service monthly and can stop whenever you like. We keep your books available and private. Neither of us gets to pretend software replaces an accountant.
What we provide
PhurFriend records your job costs, produces job costing, work in progress and payroll reports, and flags things that look wrong. It is bookkeeping software. It is not an accountant, an auditor, or a substitute for professional advice on tax, employment law or prevailing wage compliance.
Your responsibility for the numbers
The reports are only as good as what goes into them. You are responsible for checking figures before you rely on them — before certifying a payroll, before sending a WIP schedule to a lender, before filing anything with a government agency. Where the software is unsure, it says so; that is a prompt to look, not a formality.
Automatic categorisation is a suggestion. Anything it is not confident about waits for you rather than being assigned, and you can change any assignment at any time.
Paying
The subscription is monthly and you can cancel at any time, effective at the end of the period you have paid for. We will not raise the price on an existing account; if we change pricing, it applies to new customers.
Stopping
You can leave whenever you want and export everything first — all of it, as CSV, free. If you ask us to delete your data we will, within thirty days.
We can close an account that is being used to break the law or to attack the service. We will tell you why, and you will get your data.
Uptime, honestly
We work to keep the service available and will tell you when it is not. We do not offer a formal uptime guarantee, because a guarantee we cannot enforce is just words.
Limits on what we owe you
If something goes wrong on our side, our liability is limited to what you have paid us in the previous twelve months. We are not liable for lost profits, lost contracts, or penalties arising from filings you made — which is another way of saying: check the numbers before you sign anything under penalty of perjury.
Changes
If we change these terms materially, we will tell you before it takes effect, not afterwards in a footer.
Written to be understood rather than to be unassailable, and not reviewed by a lawyer. Before taking payments from customers, have a solicitor or attorney read this — particularly the liability section.
